Zayn Malik found fame in the boyband One Direction, before suddenly quitting in 2015, and releasing his solo album Mind of Mine earlier this year.

Having revealed in the past that he was disconnected with the band and their music, Zayn revealed in an excerpt from his upcoming autobiography that he’s much happier now that he can adopt a more mature sound – and sing about sex within his music.

“Every lyric I’ve ever written has a story behind it. All the hard work that went into the creation of “Pillowtalk” was worthwhile because, as soon as it was finished, I intuitively felt I was on the right path,” he wrote.

“It was a sick cut, nailing the exact sound I wanted to capture in my music.

“I was also able to sing about a subject that I hadn’t really been able to go near while I was in One Direction: sex.”

Zayn cancels all upcoming appearances because of his anxiety

The autobiography – titled Zayn, is set for release on the 1st of November and will include photos and drawings from Zayn himself.

He said he hopes the book will help clarify some of the misconceptions that have surrounded him, including his ongoing battle with anxiety.

“I’m going to show you as much as I can so that you can judge me on my own terms, not on what the press or anyone else says.”

Can’t wait to read it!
