Former One Direction member Zayn Malik has landed an executive producer job for a new Hollywood drama.

Despite quitting the biggest boyband in the world last March so he could lead a “normal life” – Zayn’s is making a TV show about, yep, being in a boyband.

“This is a big deal for Zayn. He has been keen to get stuck into different projects outside of music and this is the perfect move,” an insider told The Sun.

“It’s a subject he knows lots about and he will call upon his experiences to advise the scriptwriters on the show.

“If the series does well, he’ll receive plenty of kudos in the industry.”

Zayn will play a vital role in recruiting actors and liasing with scriptwriters when the movie starts casting in LA next month.

Zayn recently revealed his aspirations to follow in the footsteps of former bandmate Harry Styles, who has being filming for his role as a soldier in the upcoming film Dunkirk.

“I started acting when I was in school with theatre studies and then music came after,” Zayn said.

“It completely stopped when I joined the band but I’d definitely be interested if I was given the right role.”

The drama will be about a fictional boy band who go through the struggles of earning a record label to becoming a global phenomenon. Sound familiar?
