Former One Direction star Zayn Malik has revealed in his upcoming autobiography that he developed a ‘serious’ eating disorder during his five-year stint in the boy band.

In quotes from The Sun, the Pillowtalk hitmaker candidly admits he made himself extremely ill and would often go up to three days straight without consuming any food after the strains of the job badly affected his eating patterns. “‘It wasn’t as though I had any concerns about my weight or anything like that, I’d just go for days – sometimes two or three days straight – without eating anything at all. It got quite serious, although at the time I didn’t recognise it for what it was…I lost so much weight I became ill.”

However, the 23 year-old points out that he was not concerned about his weight but merely attempting to gain control.

In a tell-all autobiography, Zayn opens up about his personal struggles.

He penned in the book: “When I look back at images of myself from around November 2014, I can see how ill I was. Something I’ve never talked about in public before, but which I have come to terms with since leaving the band, is that I was suffering from an eating disorder.”

This isn’t the first time Zayn has discussed his personal struggles – he also suffers from an anxiety disorder which has hindered his solo work. Last month he was forced to pull out of a gig in Dubai next month due to his ongoing anxiety surrounding solo performances.

We hope you get better soon, Zayn!!
