A bevy of Hollywood babes are going to extremes for Instagram’s weirdest body trend yet!

First came the thigh gap, then the bikini bridge. And now a scary new body craze has hit Hollywood – the thiangle!

Yep, pin-thin thighs and jutting pelvic bones are so 2015, the thiangle – a triangular indent at the top of the inner leg formed by a combination of intense muscle tone and low levels of fat – is this year’s Insta-must-have!

And experts say stars are going to desperate lengths to get one – from dangerous diets to extreme exercise, fillers and even dehydration!

“To achieve that type of muscle definition, a person needs to become quite dehydrated,” dietitian Melanie McGrice tells NW, explaining that celebs are risking malnutrition by sticking to low-kilojoule, low-carbohydrate diets, and ditching the liquids before snapping a selfie. “This can be very dangerous.”

As for exercise, fitness expert Benjamin Hurst warns it takes intense and painful workouts to achieve the look.

“If someone wanted to increase their thiangle, they would focus mainly on adductor (inner thigh), glute (butt), and sartorius (top of thighs) muscle exercises,” says the Sydney-based personal trainer. Ugh, no thanks!

“I’ve been using a Megaformer – it is like the Pilates reformer… It’s basically a torture machine!” says the 26-year-old Victoria’s Secret Angel, whose regimen’s so strict
she won’t even give herself weekends off!

The quest for the thiangle can be far from healthy, says clinical and sports nutritionist Gabrielle Maston.

“For some women, being this lean is normal, however others may need to resort to extreme dieting to achieve the look,” she says. “If you need to starve yourself to get this lean, then this isn’t healthy and it shouldn’t be something to strive for!”
