The Spice Girls missed celebrating their 20th anniversary this year because they couldn’t book a venue (so says Mel B).

Although the more legit reason is that Victoria Beckham and Melanie Chisholm point blank refused to do it.

But the remaining trio are now cracking on with plans for their 21st next year, and as well as planning a huge concert in London’s Hyde Park, they’ve given themselves a new name too –  Spice Girls GEM!

Presumably an acronym for the remaining members’ first names, Emma Bunton, Geri Horner and Mel B posted a video on their brand new Spice Girls GEM page over the weekend, inviting fans to party with them next year.

In the clip, Geri says: “You’ve stood by us for 20 years, and we want to say a big thank you.”

“And we want to celebrate and have a party. And when we do, you’re all invited,” adds Mel B.

Posh and Sporty were MIA from the video, fuelling speculation that they’re still out. But that’s not stopping the remaining Spicies working on new music!

Producer Eliot Kennedy, who has frequently worked with The Spice Girls, has let it slip that the trio are working on new material!

“We have been in the studio, with just three of them – Mel B and Geri and Emma – and we had a fantastic couple of days,” he blabbed to UK TV show, Good Morning.

RIP to the power of five 🙁

“We wrote a brilliant song and the energy was exactly like it was 20 years ago, just as enthusiastic, just as much to say, just as much to celebrate.

“I think they have something to do with way female artists are perceived in the pop charts nowadays, I think they’ve had a massive effect on pop music and pop culture, so it’s a good time to celebrate.”

WATCH: The last time all five Spice Girls performed… that’s history. Right there.
