After months of toughing it out to transform a run-down art deco block to a luxe apartment building, the five teams on The Block’s hard work finally paid off last night as their apartments went to auction.

Young couple Will and Karlie were up first, and ended up winning the whole thing after taking home a whopping $815,000 in profits and prize money.

Their apartment sold for $2.6million, after having their reserve price set at $1.885million.

Visibly shocked with their result, Will said: ‘We were hoping for anything over $100,000.”

“As a young couple struggling financially, winning The Block is going to set us up for the rest or our lives,” Karlie told the Daily Telegraph.

Will and Karlie took out the top prize, with $715,000 in profts and $100,000 in prize money.

Melbourne girls Julia and Sasha came a narrow second, but still walked away with a staggering $660,000 worth of prize money.

Not bad for a couple of months work!

Julia and Sasha presented one hell of an apartment!

The Block’s oldest-ever contestants – Perth couple Dan and Carleen – walked away with $525,000 in profits, despite their auction coming to a heartbreaking halt at one stage, with it looking like they weren’t going to get any more than $350,000. Phew!

Dan and Carleen’s auction almost came crashing down at one stage…

While Chris and Kim’s apartment was the biggest, they sadly took home the least amount of money over their reserve of $1.885million, although they still scooped an impressive $425,000 in profits and prize money!

Chris and Kim were still ecstatic with the result of their apartment!

Ben and Andy, young teachers and BFFS from Victoria, were absolutely ecstatic to be taking home $510,000, after initially admitting they only wanted a first year teacher’s wage of $64,000 each in profits.
