It’s a sad morning for Pretty Little Liars fans, after it was announced that the hit TV show will be ending after its seventh season. NOOO!

After much speculation over the future of PLL, cast members Troian Bellisario, Ashley Benson, Lucy Hale, Shay Mitchell, Sasha Pieterse and creator I. Marlene King announced the devastating news in a Facebook Live broadcast.

“It’s been such an amazing chapter of our lives and we’re so glad that you guys could share it with us, but all good things must come to an end and these last 10 episodes are pretty crazy,” Lucy revealed.

The cast reveal that PLL is ending after season 7

While I. Marlene tried to let fans down lightly, and hinted that the show could continue in a “different form” after season seven wrapped, the group confirmed that the last ten episodes will officially mark the end of the show.

But not to worry, you’ve still got some time left to soak in PLL, because the second half of season seven will premiere in April next year, and the series finale will be a two-hour special! YASS!

“It’s been an honor to work with such a talented cast and crew over the last seven years. We are a family, and it will be hard to say goodbye to a show that has made such an impact on young audiences and been a mouthpiece for cultural change,” I. Marlene said in a statement.

“I’m excited for fans to finally have all of their questions answered, and I believe they will be satisfied with the wild ride that is our last ten episodes.

“I am also thrilled to embark on my next endeavor Famous In Love with Bella Thorne and for PLL fans to get wrapped up in Paige’s rise to stardom and the pitfalls of Hollywood.”

The Pretty Little Liars cast throughout the years

The PLL cast have promised that season seven will provide the closure we need, regardless of whether it continues in the future or not.

“It’s definitely going to be the last season as the fans know it,” Troian said.

“I think that most of the major storylines are going to be wrapping up, and that’s what’s really exciting because I think fans are finally going to get answers that they want.”

The PLL midseason finale airs Tuesday at 8 p.m. on Freeform.
