Married At First Sight’s Nicole Heir has hit back at critics, after receiving a huge amount of backlash when she shared a photo of her and fellow MAFS contestant Jono Pitman on Monday.

Taking to Instagram yesterday, she shared a snap of herself with the caption: “After my last post, I received a lot of negativity from people who haven’t met myself or Jono, who don’t know our real stories.”

“People who don’t know what goes on off camera. Making nasty comments is morally wrong, everyone’s fighting their own battles and someday you could say it to someone who’s not doing well.

“Filming ended 6 months ago, I’m still going to go about my life and if I want to catch up with Jono or whoever for dinner and post a pic like normal, I’m free to do so,” she ended.

Nicole – who was on the most recent season – caused controversy when she posted a photo with Jono – from season two – with his arm around her while out to dinner.

She captioned the pic: “New friends and new adventures,” with the hashtag “believe everything you read” – which sparked speculation that a romance could be blossoming between the pair.

Nicole’s hubby on the show Keller commented on the snap saying: “bye Felicia.”

Nicole and Keller were hands down the most dramatic couple of this season of MAFS, and Nicole couldn’t move past Keller’s repeated drunken behaviour.

Meanwhile Jono and his wife from season two Clare Verrall split because he was “hot headed” and allegedly re-triggered Clare’s PTSD.

Even Clare commented on the pic, writing: “You guys look cute together. Even though I assume this is a MAFS alumni catch [email protected] you have @jonopitman19 & I’ll have @keller____ (jokes). Jono is a good guy, just not the one for me.”

She finished: “Good to see Jono looking so happy.”

Fans were less than impressed by the photo though, and didn’t hold back in the comments, with one user writing: “Yuuuuuck! What are you doing?!”

Yikes!
