The second episode of Married at First Sight aired last night, and the first new couple matched were Jess, 31, and Dave, 28.

Jess revealed that she hopes to find someone who accepts her for who she is…

“I definitely have an out there sort of personality. Opinionated, maybe. I’ve been looking for the nice guys on the dating sites but so far I don’t know where they are all hiding,” she said.

“Whilst I have a tough exterior there’s moments where I think I look horrible, no one will love me ever. I am worried that he might not be attracted to me. The pressure is on now to really look amazing because this is it.”

Jess was worried that Dave wouldn’t be attracted to her

Dave also said he was ready to find the one, and reveals he never used to have the confidence that he has now – weighing 129 kilos when he was younger.

“I didn’t sleep with a girl until I was 20-years-old. Since losing the weight the confidence has risen and I’m a completely different person to who I used to be,” he said.

“I’ve been a bit of a dating addict… I went on a few dates.” A dating… addict?!

Dave reveals he’s a dating addict

They seemed like they could be a good match, but as Jess nervously walked down the aisle, Dave revealed his first impression of his bride wasn’t what he expected it to be.

“If I’m being 100 per cent honest, I don’t want to come across as some p***k. But I had expected something a little bit different. Is she the girl for me? I don’t know,” Dave said.

“She’s a bit different from the girls I have dated in the past. I’m sure she’s going through all the same thought processes.”

Come on mate, give her a chance!

Poor Jess was over the moon at her match though, describing Dave as “cute and tall.”

But as is often the case with first impressions, Jess’s killer confidence appeared to change Dave’s mind.

“She wasn’t nervous. She’s just confident. A woman with confidence is an extremely sexy and appealing thing,” he admitted.

Dave’s first impressions of Jess weren’t great, but she won him over with her personality

Lesson learnt here. Don’t judge a book by its cover!
