Steven Avery is off the market, ladies!

Yep, the jailbird made famous on the Netflix documentary series Making A Murderer is engaged to Las Vegas legal secretary Lynn Hartman – a woman he’s only met once!

“Steven Avery’s engagement to Lynn is one bright spot in an otherwise unbelievably tragic and unfair life story,” his lawyer Kathleen Zellner confirmed in a statement to Us Weekly. “Cheers to both of them.”

“When I get out, I plan to marry Lynn,” he said. “I love her.”

The lovebirds’ paths first crossed eight months ago when Lynn, 53, began phoning and writing to Steven in jail – where he’s serving life in prison for the 2005 murder of photographer Teresa Halbach.

Steven –  who was sentenced in 2007 – maintains his innocence

Strangely, Steven, 54, became somewhat of a sex symbol since being found guilty in 2007. Apparently, he receives up to 40 letters a day from women – Lynn having been one of them – and his whirlwind engagement makes former fiancée Sandra Greenman very weary.

“She’s very pretty, there’s no way she’d want Steven Avery usually,” says Sandra.

“All the family are afraid of her, something isn’t right, I know she wants fame, and she’s looking for money.”

But her fears haven’t dampened Steven’s spirits.

“[Lynn’s] going to be my future wife. We’ll be laughing forever,” he told the Daily Mail from his prison cell on September 23.

“She treats me decent, she loves me. She’s kind of spoiling me right now. I just want to be happy and enjoy my life.”

Lynn announced her engagement on Facebook with this happy snap

The pretty blonde couldn’t agree more, posting on Facebook, “Despite the obstacles, and Steven’s wrongful conviction & incarceration, we plan to be married shortly after he is released.”

And that could be soon! Last month, a judge overturned the case of Steven’s nephew Brendan Dassey, 26 – who’s also serving a life sentence for Teresa’s murder – after concluding that his confession was clearly “involuntary”, meaning Steven’s case could soon follow suit.

Sounds like there’ll be no jailhouse wedding for these two!
