After days of silence, Keira Maguire has addressed the reports of her being born into a cult, which saw her dad father 64 children and wed nine women.

In an interview with The Project, the Bachie babe broke down confessing she was tortured by her upbringing.

“I didn’t know who my mum was until I was five,” she revealed. “I didn’t even have birthdays. I think I had my first birthday when I was seven.”

Keira admitted she was distraught by the article that revealed her past, confessing she’d never told anyone about her father before out of fear of shame.

“I kind of knew that I was different. I didn’t want to tell people because I didn’t want to be judged,” says Keira. “Even in relationships with guys, I never opened up about it because I didn’t want them to judge me because I’m not normal.”

Keira burst into tears when she addressed her past

But it’s not just her own image Keira’s concerned about – her mum who escaped the cult in the ’90s with Keira’s five siblings is horrified to be reliving her past.

“When I saw my mum on TV, it was very confronting. That really upset me,” the 29-year-old Sydney girl revealed.

“She was the same age I am today when I saw her there. That was very confronting.”

Despite the public revelations, Keira doesn’t regret applying for The Bachelor. “I remember being five years old and saying ‘yep, you’ve got this – you control your future.’ Yes, it has affected the way that I think and the way that I am, but only for good reasons.”

Poor Keira!
