Grab the tissues, guys…

Orlando nightclub shooting survivor Tony Marrero appeared on the Ellen show recently, and after telling Ellen he found solace in the powerful lyrics of Katy Perry’s song Rise, the talk show host brought the singer on stage, and everyone burst in to tears.

Tony suffered four gunshot wounds in the attack at Pulse nightclub on June 12th, and his best friend Luis was one of the 49 people killed.

“We were just about to leave and as soon as we started heading to the door, that’s when we heard the gunshots. Me and Luis, we looked at each other and we just hit the ground. That’s the last time I saw him,” he recalled of the horrific experience.

Fighting back tears, Tony thanked Katy for her song that inspired him to fight his way back to health in hospital, before she offered to pay for his first year at college.
