Even Jessica Alba makes the occasional fashion misstep!

“There are photos of me in really low-waist jeans where my butt crack is hanging out,” The Honest Company co-founder tells NW. “I look back at that and I’m just like, ‘No, that’s unnecessary!’”

Since then, the self-proclaimed “denim junkie” has mastered choosing and styling jeans. “I’m a Cali girl. We live in our denim!” Jess, 35, says.

She recently used her style savvy to design a 10-piece collection for DL1961, which is out now. The line, which uses environmentally friendly material, “Is about embracing girls with curves who aren’t stick-thin,” Jess says.

We’ll take Jess’s advice on how to wear denim any day!

Choose a high-waist or flare style to appear taller

Jessica says “legs look longer” in jeans that sit high on the hips. “You just have to make sure they’re really hugging your body,” she says. Flares also add height, especially when paired with heels.

“For someone who is a little bit shorter, wearing flares with a stacked heel is good because you get the platform in the front so you’re not stepping high on your tippy-toes,” the 1.7m beauty explains.

“Or you can do a wedge, which is comfortable to run around in all day.”

Don’t wash your jeans often… or ever!

DL1961’s designers recommend placing jeans in a Ziploc bag in the freezer overnight to kill germs, but Jess doesn’t go that far!

“I wash mine, but not every day, and I never put them into the dryer,” she explains.
