Jamie Lynn Spears has come a long way since shocking the showbiz world when she announced she was having a baby — and out of wedlock, at the young age of 16.

Now, Jamie Lynn is telling her side of the story in an upcoming special on TLC, called When The Lights Go Out. A sneak peek was released on Thursday and showed the now 25-year-old breaking down in tears as she discussed her teen pregnancy.

Britney Spears’ little sister’s life with her now 7-year-old daughter Maddie and hubby James Watson is also documented on the reality special.

The country singer drew a lot of criticism back in 2007 when she revealed her pregnancy. “A lot of horrible, nasty things were said,” Jamie Lynn says on the special. “I look back now and I’m like, ‘Oh my Gosh,’” she adds.

However, she occasionally talked about her teen pregnancy in the press. In 2012, she told Glamour Magazine, “Like many young girls, I was really scared to go to the doctor. And I was on a Nickelodeon show, and it [felt] especially embarrassing to ask someone to put me on birth control.” Jamie Lynn recalled being surprised to find out she was pregnant, adding, “This made no sense and I didn’t understand it and I was young.”

“I’m not just a child star,” Jamie Lynn says on the TLC special. “And I’m not just someone’s sister. And I’m not just a teen mum.”

Big sister Britney and their parents also make an appearance on the program to discuss her emotional journey.

Jamie Lynn promises that the special will tell the ‘real story’ of her life ‘like you’ve never heard before.’

Stay tuned for Jamie Lynn Spears: When the Lights Go Out, which airs on June 26. We’ll definitely be watching!
