Imagine being dumped on a remote Samoan island with just the clothes on your back. You have to source your own food and build your own shelter – and then you have to outwit, outplay and outlast your fellow castaways.

It may not be the most glamorous show on TV, but Survivor never fails to have us on the edge of our seats.

This time around, Aussie actor Jonathan LaPaglia, 46, has jumped on board as host of the series, but he tells us he’s not cut out to be a contestant on the show.

“I would be terrible at the game,” he confesses. “I think I’d end up pissing off a lot of people.”

So, what can we expect from the new Survivor Australia?

“We’ve had some great twists that none of us expected,” says Jonathan. “You just never know how it’s gonna turn out…”

Indeed, these twists include severe tropical storms and scorching heat – and then there’s the whole wild pigs, crabs and snakes thing…

Welcome to the jungle!

Let’s meet a few of the 24 budding Survivors…

Tune in for the Australian Survivor this Sunday and Monday at 7:30pm on TEN!
