The 2016 MTV Video Music Awards did not disappoint. Rihanna slayed, Britney Spears made her comeback, Kanye West rambled on, again, and Calvin Harris didn’t acknowledge his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift.

Here’s what happened…

Rihanna kicked off the show with a medley of her hits Don’t Stop the Music, We Found Love and Where Have You Been.

She slayed, as usual. And Kanye West couldn’t help but be impressed…

Next up, Ariana Grande shot to the stage for her sweaty, treadmill-induced performance of Side to Side, later joined by Nicki Minaj.

Calvin Harris won best male video for This Is What You Came For, in which he says his thank you’s in a taped speech. But awks – he didn’t give a shout out to his ex-girlfriend Taylor Swift, who penned the track.

Kanye West had his four minutes to talk. And man, did he talk. From calling wifey Kim Kardashian a “G” to naming himself as one of his few role models, Yeezy didn’t hold back!

Queen Bey brought her daughter Blue Ivy as her date to the Awards. OMFG.

She picked up eight gongs, and literally smashed her Lemonade medley.

Kim Kardashian introduces Britney Spears, for her first performance at the VMAs since 2007.

Brit looked as hot as ever in her sparkly yellow outfit as she writhed around on the floor belting out her new hit Make Me.

Drake presents Rihanna with the The Video Vanguard Award, and says: “She’s someone I’ve been in love with since I was 22 years old.”

Rihanna then showed her appreciation with a thank-you kiss. OMFG.
And that’s a wrap!
