Game of Thrones producers aren’t wasting any time planing what comes next for the hit HBO series after its 2018 finale, with talks that a prequel is on the cards.

Yep, with the main series planned to end with two shortened final seasons spread over the next two years, HBO and author George RR Martin have discussed the next chapter for the series.

“I would say it’s still kind of preliminary, ongoing talks,” HBO programming president Casey Bloys told Entertainment Weekly.

“There are areas we are exploring but I wouldn’t point to anyone and say this is what we’re going to do.”

Discussions include exploring Westeros and the Targaryen rule over the Seven Kingdoms. CAN. NOT. DEAL.

And while GOT showrunners David Benioff and Dan Weiss didn’t seem keen on making a spinoff before, they’re now on board!

“One of the great things about what George [RR Martin] did is he didn’t just build a story… he built a world,” they teased.

“[There’s] so many characters and such a rich detailed history behind it that there are a lot of different ways you could go with it.”
