It’s that time of year again!

The notoriously controversial (cough Kanye) and ridiculously star studded event that is the MTV Video Music Awards – is coming at you live this Monday the 29th of August!

This year’s event will be held at New York’s iconic Madison Square Garden and will see an incredible line up of celeb guests and performers come together for what will surely be an unforgettable evening. Well let’s hope so…

This year’s nominations are led by none other than Queen B herself (YASSS B!) who has 11 nominations, followed closely by powerhouse vocalist and one of our all-time favourite humans, Adele, who has 8 noms.

Beyonce’s Lemonade is leading the noms

This year’s hosting duties will fall on an ensemble cast including the likes of comedians Keegan-Michael Key, Jordan Peele, Jay Pharoah and Nicole Byer, as well as Sean “Diddy” Combs aka Puff Daddy, Alicia Keys, Ansel Elgort, Bebe Rexha, Fifth Harmony, Jaden Smith, Jimmy Fallon, Kanye West, Kim Kardashian West, Rita Ora, Shameik Moore, Tove Lo and DJ Khaled.

You can also look forward to an appearance by America’s beloved gold-medal winning gymnastics team (Simone Biles, Gabby Douglas, Laurie Hernandez, Madison Kocian and Aly Raisman) and the most decorated Olympian of all time Michael Phelps.

But what about the performances you ask?

Making her triumphant return to the VMA stage will be none other than Miss Ariana Grande, who is once again teaming up with superstar Nicki Minaj to perform Side to Side from Ari’s third full length release, Dangerous Woman.

Also making her long awaited return to the VMA stage is Pop megastar Britney Spears who will be performing new single Make Me, with a little help from American rapper G-Eazy.

Britney Spears will perform at the VMAs

Other confirmed performers include Nick Jonas featuring Ty Dolla $ign, the ‘Micheal Jackson Video Vanguard Award’ recipient Rihanna, as well as The Chainsmokers who will be performing their current #1 hit single ‘Closer’ with a little help from fan favourite Halsey.

You can also look forward to seeing Australia’s very own Troye Sivan perform his hit single ‘Wild’ alongside Canadian up-and-comer Alessia Cara.

Needless to say we are ridiculously excited for this year’s show and can’t wait to bring you live updates as all the action unfolds!
