She may have Bad Blood, but Taylor Swift’s also got a badass bod! And it’s no wonder, given the stunner eats well and puts in the time at the gym.

“Health is a big part of being happy,” explains Tay-Tay, who still enjoys the odd cheat day. “I have a need to feel like I’ve earned things, so when I have a week of working really hard, I get to have a day or two off – whether it’s from exercise or watching what I eat.”

To keep an eye on her, the 26-year-old turns to Aussie supertrainer Simone de la Rue – the woman behind the bods of Sandra Bullock, Chrissy Teigen and Reese Witherspoon.

What’s her health strategy?

“I try to help my clients make healthier choices,” says Simone. “I basically eat a Paleo diet where I eliminate gluten, caffeine, alcohol, dairy, sugar.”

Heard it all before, you say? Well Taylor’s got a secret, fat-fighting weapon! To cut gluten without sacrificing yummy foods like bread, Simone’s clients reach for gluten-free grain replacements – and the one Tay loves is buckwheat.

What’s on the menu?

While there is a popular eating plan known as The Buckwheat Diet, where followers eat nothing but buckwheat and kefir for a fortnight, Tay incorporates the fat-burning cereal into a more long-term, balanced diet packed with vegetables, fibre and protein.

How does it work?

High in minerals like magnesium, copper and manganese, as well as B vitamins, buckwheat is also loaded with fibre, which has been shown to aid weight
loss, reduce cravings and lower blood sugar after eating. What’s more, buckwheat contains gut flora-boosting tannins and D-chiro-inositol – a substance studies suggest improves insulin sensitivity, helping us metabolise sugar.

Yep, no wonder Tay gets to have her Paleo pancakes and eat them, too!
