She’s blunt, she’s catty and Bethenny Frankel ain’t planning on changing any time soon!

“A bitch I may be, but an honest one. I don’t act or play it up or down for the cameras,” says the mogul behind Skinnygirl cocktails. “At least you know where you stand with me.” Yep, we sure do!

As usual, Bethenny, 45, and her sharp tongue have wreaked havoc so far in Season Eight of The Real Housewives Of New York City.

From dissing Dorinda Medley’s boyfriend John Mahdessian, calling him a “chubby baby”, to body-shaming newbie Jules Wainstein by saying, “She’s the kind of thin that makes people around you uncomfortable,” Beth ain’t holding back!

RHONY Housewives

We caught up with the mum of five-year-old daughter Bryn – whose dad Jason Hoppy, 45, Bethenny is still in the process of divorcing three years on from their split! – for some of
that unflinching honesty we love so much…

You’re so brutal on the show, do members of the public tell you they’re shocked at how mean you are?

People say, “You inspire me, you’re so real, you tell it like it is, you’re my spirit animal,” or, “I want to be you when I grow up.” I am a reality star on a reality show. Bravo
asked me to return because they feel I am honest, direct and don’t manufacture drama or edit myself. I always say, “You may not like me, but you know you’re getting the truth.” I will forever stand by my tagline.

Some fans reckon certain scenes are quite scripted. Is that the case?

I would never participate in that. You can tell when people are being a little contrived or Housewifey. I don’t even tolerate that. You know you can’t control what people say, but they will try to play characters themselves.

Are you dating much at the moment?

I’ve met some great guys, but I’m utterly single right now. I don’t have that much of a dating life – that’s the unfortunate truth. I would like to work on that. I would like
to eventually be really fully divorced. I’ve been focused a lot on just my daughter and work. I do date and I have been in short little relationships, but there’s nothing substantial.

How is the divorce coming along? Is it nearly over?

I feel like we’re on the 18th hole. I think we’re at the end of it. I like to be good at things so I figure if I’m gonna get a divorce I’m going to have the longest and best and most expensive divorce. It’s gnarly and I didn’t see it as being this way… but here we are.

What lessons have you learnt from your marriage to Jason?

We’re not supposed to change who we are for a man, and I guarantee I won’t be making that mistake again. Everybody is out there looking for someone — they want the ring and to get married. My opinion is you need a man who can deal with you.

If I can’t meet someone who can do that, then I’d rather be alone. I don’t need to get married. I don’t need a man. I can support five men.

Will your next partner need to be happy about being featured on the show?

I don’t believe I would be attracted to somebody who would want to be on my show. I’ve been there and done that and it hasn’t been
a very successful proposition for me! My life does not revolve around the show. The show revolves around my life.

Does Bryn realise her mum is famous?

Once in a while she’ll see me on a commercial and say, “Mommy!” And she knows what my Skinnygirl logo is. She brags to her friends.

Aw! We can’t wait to see what else happens this season – is it going to get even more explosive?

Yes, for sure. Definitely. And I’m going to get my ass beat. It’s one of my favourite seasons despite the fact that I’m going to have to go into the witness-protection program!

The Real Housewives Of New York City 8.30pm Thursday on Arena

Her face has changed dramatically over the past few years, but Bethenny claims it’s simply the result of treatment for teeth grinding! “I do look different, I’ve had Botox in my jaw,” she says.
