In heartbreaking news, the mother of Bachelorette Georgia Love lost her battle with pancreatic cancer yesterday. The brunette beauty remembered her mum, Belinda Love, 60, as “loving and loyal” after she passed away following a six-month battle with the disease.

Her death comes just less than a week after Georgia declared her love for Lee Elliott over fan-favourite Matty J on The Bachelorette finale.

The 28 year-old journalist penned a poignant post, saying that her heart was “utterly broken.”

My heart is utterly broken. 7 weeks ago we were sipping cocktails in Italy. 7 months ago you weren’t even sick. How is it possible you’re no longer here? Mum, you were my first friend and my best friend, my rock, the one who knew me better than anyone in the world and who supported and backed me through every single thing I did. You were the one I went to for advice, the one I shared every story with and the one who was always there to pick me up. There is so much more I need and want to share with you. I have no idea how to even begin to say goodbye. I love you, Mum, and will continue to every single day. “If there ever comes a day when we can’t be together, keep me in your heart. I’ll stay there forever.”

Georgia’s boyfriend Lee, 35, also wrote an emotional post on Instagram, calling her “the love of my life” and expressing his sadness and support for Georgia and her family at this devastating time.

He wrote, “It most certainly puts everything else into perspective and has only reiterated just how much I absolutely want to be there for you & be your rock.”

Sadly, Lee only met Georgia’s mum for the first time just days before she passed away.

It’s so hard to know what to say in this instance. What I’d originally thought I’d be posting today was a gushy message all about love, butterflies, fireworks and just how happy @leeroyelliott makes me every day and how lucky I feel to have found the love of my life through this crazy experience. And while all of this couldn’t be more true, it’s not the most important thing to say right now. What should be one of the most exciting weeks of my life has instead turned into one of the hardest with my family going through something no one ever wants to face. But a small solace I can find in this extremely difficult time is that I have this amazing man by my side and for that I feel so lucky. He’s been so incredibly supportive and loving and managed to make me smile and laugh every day despite everything else. Thank you to everyone who’s supported us and followed my story. The messages of love and support have been overwhelming and so so humbling. Thank you thank you, from the bottom of my heart ❤️

Words cannot express just how much I truly wish this was a very different post. Today is such a mix of emotions. It’s actually not possible for me to be any happier to finally tell the whole world that I have found my soul mate, my best friend and the love of my life in you @georgiealove You are my everything and my world! But at the same time I could not be any more saddened by what you and your family are going through right now. It most certainly puts everything else into perspective and has only reiterated just how much I absolutely want to be there for you & be your rock as you have been mine today and always! I feel truly blessed to have finally been able to meet the absolutely extraordinary woman who is your mother. I can certainly now see where your strength, love for life, sense of humour and beauty both inside & out come from! #pancare #bacheloretteau www.pancare.org.au

Tributes to Mrs Love describe her as the “beautiful and beloved best friend of Christopher Love, and the loving devoted mother and best friend of Catherine (Katie) and Georgia.” “Our hearts are aching and we miss you so much,” a tribute from the family said. “In our memories, with love, forever.”

Other tributes to the dedicated nurse described a bubbly, cherished woman whose life was “cut way too short.”

Our thoughts and prayers are with Georgia and her family during this trying time.
