You didn’t think you could kill Patsy Stone and Edina Monsoon, did you? There isn’t a binge-drinking session strong enough to take these two out!

Like cockroaches emerging unharmed from a nuclear war, almost a quarter of a century after Patsy and Eddy first burst into our lives in the iconic ’90s TV series Absolutely Fabulous, they’re back and this time they’re taking their debauched antics to the big screen in Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie.

On the run after accidentally bumping Kate Moss off – into the Thames! – the ladies hightail it to Cannes to revive their social status and convince the farshun world they’re legit contenders.

And while a whopping 60 celebs were falling over themselves to land a cameo, including Jon Hamm, Suki Waterhouse, Cara Delevingne and Rebel Wilson, there’s one star who actress Jennifer Saunders declares persona non grata – Kim Kardashian!

“Don’t even go there,” says Jennifer, 58, who plays out-there PR guru Eddy, when asked about the reality queen joining the cast. “She would never make it into one of my films.” Ouch!

What’s more, Joanna Lumley – aka Patsy – says it was quite the party without her!

Lily, Jourdan, Suki and Alexa livin’ it up!

“My happiest moment was when we were filming a fantasy sequence and I looked over and had Stella McCartney, Lara Stone, Daisy Lowe, Alexa Chung, Suki Waterhouse, Jourdan Dunn and Kate Moss wafting in,” says Joanna, 70.

“Because they all knew each other – and they looked happy as Larry.”

Poor Kimmy K wasn’t the only star left out, though. She was joined on the blacklist by heart-throb Harry Styles (why?!), US President Barack Obama and Victoria Beckham!

“I didn’t even ask [her] – I just thought she wouldn’t [sign on],” Jennifer says of Posh – but her old Spice Girls bandmate Emma Bunton was in all the way!

So aside from a sparkling roster of star cameos, what else can we expect from the flick?

Well, lots of drinking, for starters – although, if you were under the impression it was a full-on booze-fest IRL, you’d be wrong!

“Everything we drink on camera is ginger ale masquerading as champagne,” says Joanna. “The fake Moët & Chandon bottles even pop and foam…” Boo!

The sassy duo’s wicked one-liners have been reinvented, too, becoming (slightly) tamer – although it’s not something the foul-mouthed duo are entirely thrilled about!

“In the beginning, you were allowed to offend people much more,” explains Jennifer. “Now people are up in arms if you say the wrong thing by mistake, even if you are trying to be
on their side.

Jennifer and Joanna reinvent the water taxi

“The truth is, people shouldn’t be offended by Patsy and Edina, because they represent people who are offensive,” she continues. “These aren’t role models!”

But fear not, Ab Fab fans – there isn’t a swear jar strong enough to contain Eddy and Patsy!

“It’s very liberating to be able to act and speak as grotesquely as Patsy does,” adds Joanna.

“She’s so uncaring about everything, so furious and so demanding and so funny.”

And thankfully, Jennifer’s already confirmed that she’s up for a sequel – and we’ll certainly raise a glass of Bolly to that! It would be rude not, too…
